Rebirth of the Butcher Shop

At Timeless Kitchen Design, we are kitchen people but we are also FOOD people. Someone recently sent me this link to a new butcher shop concept.....well, not really new. In many parts of the country, the traditional butcher who operates a small butcher shop is a dying breed. I actually have relatives in central Pennsylvania that still run a thriving butcher shop and have a great appreciation for access to good quality meats.
Vadim Akimenko is launching a new venture in the Boston area. As stated on their website: "Akimenko Meats strives to bridge the gap between the city dweller and our local farmers. Our commitment to our neighbors is to bring in local, organic, and sustainable products while supporting the local agricultural community, building customer awareness, and ultimately aiding our local economy."

We think this is an excellent concept that could be matched in other areas of the country. This is just one more way to grow the slow food movement in America as consumers become more closely connected to the producers of our food.
